Pop up ads?!!!

I was browsing through this app when a little box labeled Pets appeared at the bottom. I touched the arrow and was taken to the app store and shown an app named Pets.
Really? Pop-up ads on an app? Come on. Id rather pay for the app and have no ads.
Otherwise, I found the app useful. It appears to be the app most used as a gay guide in my city with lots of recent reviews.
